Alignment Is The New Hustle
We live in a culture which is supercharged right?
We are caught up in the goal setting, reward achieving daily grind where we have so much to do but never enough time to do it in. We chase time all the time. My role as a mum and as a full time doctor is intense in every aspect. Finding alignment for me therefore is about making time to reflect, rest and recuperate, always believing that in order to perform my duty well, I need to keep myself well first.
How I find alignment in my daily hustle:
1.I make time for “quiet time” - call it meditation, call it mindfulness, call it a cup of tea I have made it a habit to take time out to “just switch off and be” whenever I can.
2.I write things down - brain dumping is so effective especially when there’s lots going on. I do this first thing in the morning as it allows me to prioritise my tasks for the day.
3.I feed my body with a balanced diet and snack regularly - in the hustle and bustle we cut corners in our diet and we all know how majorly this can impact and upset our health and wellbeing.
4.I make time for movement - I practice daily yoga and I enjoy running. I don’t have time to go to the gym so I do what I can with what time I have.
5.I feed my mind with knowledge and new experiences because I believe this is medicine for the mind. I read widely, listen to podcasts whenever in transit and I spend time with people I find inspiring. I’ve come to learn the power of having a like-minded tribe.
6.Lastly I practice gratitude. I give my day meaning by reflecting on all things that happened during the day because that’s where the lessons are hidden.
All of this is a work in progress and will evolve no doubt as I evolve, however taking out “me-time” keeps me balanced which in turn makes me a more productive and pleasant person to be around for both my family and my patients/colleagues.
I am always keen to learn how others do it...so tell me how do you find alignment in your daily hustle?
